Together, we can prevent these problems. The HEPRO project aims to integrate health considerations into spatial planning and development. Its systematic approach will make an important contribution to the establishment of sustainable public health policies in Europe. HEPRO consists of thirty-two partners, and brings together experts with specialist knowledge and experience from all relevant sectors across nine countries throughout the Baltic Sea Region. The project will help to find ways to promote health effectively, and its results will be brought to the attention to those who need to take action.

HEPRO will carry out a transnational population survey and training programmes, and concrete findings from the survey will be used in the implementation of spatial planning processes. Results will be gathered in a tool-kit that aims to support decision-makers at regional and local levels with evidence based practical advice.

Dr. Premilla Webster, from the University of Oxford, is regarded as one of the world´s leading experts with regards to health profiles. The HEPRO-project will benefit from hers experience since she assists the World Health Organisation in these kinds of questions.
